Music & Art

Sagewood recognizes the importance of the arts in a child’s life.  Art and music are part of the school curriculum, from Grade 0 to Grade 7.  Dedicated teachers in both fields, provide an appreciation and an opportunity for the learners to explore many avenues.

A wide variety of materials are used in the art classes and learners are encouraged to up-cycle everyday objects and recycle where possible.

The Choir performs at assembly and other functions.  Learners are taught to read music, using recorders.  Movement is incorporated into lessons and the learners delight in using talents they have learned during these lessons, to impress their peers at the Annual Talent Show!  All leaners are encouraged to participate in the Eisteddfod Speech and Drama Festivals.

It is a known fact that the arts also contribute to academic learning.  Each child is encouraged to keep their art activities real and give it their all, thus providing a firm foundation that they will take with them into high school and indeed, as part of their lives always.
